Bill Prescott
Program: Pharmacy Practice
Pharm.D., 2002
I am currently working as a pharmacy resident—getting more in-depth clinical experience so that I can work more closely with pediatric patients when I'm finished. Clinical residencies allow you to be more involved in the decision-making of the health care team. Doctors ask for my opinion, I make rounds with them and I order labs to check on blood levels of drugs.
I considered becoming a physician, but if you choose medicine it becomes your life. Pharmacists have the luxury of rich clinical experiences but can also have a full family and personal life.
The Pharm.D. program at UB gave me a chance to develop leadership. The faculty really look out for you and encourage you. I was actually shy when I began the program and ended up becoming president of my class. In addition to the challenging program—a program that got me where I am today—I would say that the best part of my UB experience was the lifelong friends I made.
