Graduated: Pharm.D. 2003
I had the time of my life!
The Pharm.D. program at UB opened my eyes as to what I am capable of doing and it showed me that I can make a difference in the pharmacy profession and in health care in general.
The role of the pharmacist is really changing. UB prepares us for this change by helping us move toward a more clinical role. Our curriculum is getting us ready to be part of a team that will influence patient care as drug specialists—health care professionals that physicians, nurses, and patients count on. Pharmacists are constantly getting more involved in therapeutic care and decision making.
I also love the patient contact that pharmacists have. I found out that because of the rapport pharmacists can establish with patients, patients are often willing to tell a pharmacist that their medications aren't working. This allows pharmacists to proactively work with physicians to help design a more individualized therapeutic approach to patient health care.
I started the first American chapter of CAPSI and competed in the national American Pharmaceutical Association competition.
