Ingrid Johnson-Jacobs

Program: Pharmacy Practice
Graduated: B.S. 1992

In addition to being a working pharmacist, I own my own science and technology consulting firm and found out that it takes a lot of confidence to start such an endeavor.

You have great confidence in yourself when you complete UB's pharmacy program. That's because while the faculty are challenging you beyond what you thought you were capable of, they're also supporting you every step of the way. Nobody limits you here: you can be who you are and reach your potential.

The commonly held view of pharmacy is that pharmacists are professional pill counters. What the public often doesn't see is what I take into account about each individual—their health care challenges, their lifestyles, who they are as people—while I assess the prescription the physician has written. In fact, when I was a pharmacy student at UB, we were videotaped while we interviewed patients. I still use the questions they gave us.

My education led to a degree in pharmacy for a changing time and changing information. Because of my training, I know how to find the information that I don't have. UB turns out professionals; I'm a professional in everything I do.
