Ho-Leung Fung, Ph.D.

Department: Pharmaceutical Sciences
Professor: Pharmaceutical Sciences

Without question, this is the strongest program in the pharmaceutical sciences on the east coast. Our alumni are leaders in industry and academia, so there is a good network—an excellent infrastructure—in place for our graduates to get the best positions. The surrounding area enjoys a low cost of living which makes our competitive stipend even more valuable.

Graduates from our program are offered prestigious postdoctoral positions from academic institutions and well paid jobs (over $80,000 per year) by industry right out of school. This is because our students are exposed to cutting-edge research— and training. The Buffalo product is well known of its scientific excellence, leadership and team-working skills.

One of the great joys I have is to work with research students. I had personally advised over 25 Ph.D. students, and they have maintained contact with me as friends and colleagues for many years after leaving Buffalo. Many of our graduates have made significant contributions to society, in increasing the quality of life by reducing human suffering.
