Karl Fiebelkorn, R.Ph., MBA
Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Professional Affairs
Program: Pharmacy Practice
Professor: Pharmacy Law, Pharmacy Care, Pharmacy Management
Our program is made up of students who love math, science, and people. All three of those components are necessary to succeed in our program. We aren't training pharmacy students to perform a nine-to-five job—we are educating individuals to become health care professionals with a deep commitment to excellent patient care.
One exciting component of our program is the opportunity to go on to do a pharmacy residency after graduation. This gives the graduate clinical experience in a specialty area—for instance, an entire year in cardiology, AIDS, or critical care medicine—while receiving a stipend.
The Pharm.D. program at UB is distinguished by faculty commitment. I personally spend about forty hours per week outside of class, helping with student meetings, advising students, setting up listservs for students to communicate with professors and peers, and sending email messages and reminders to students in academic need.
My current research involves attention-deficit drug therapy and drug therapy for asthma.
