The Goals of the Pharmacotherapy Information Center (PIC) are to:
- Provide novel informatics applications to enhance individualized drug therapy for patients through evidence-based prescribing and complement electronic health records systems by providing integrated pharmacoinformatics applications.
- Implement an electronic Pharmacy and Therapeutics (eP&T) Committee Network to support formulary development and management among small hospitals and community health systems and to provide quarterly eNewsletters
- Provide an online mechanism for Medication Regimen Review to foster evidence-based applied therapeutics.
- Provide a mechanism for regional health professionals to receive rapid responses to drug-related questions.
- Provide formalized drug information to IRBs.
- Provide a web-based mechanism for practicing pharmacists to gain new skills for drug information retrieval and interpretation through the Office of Post-graduate Education.
- Establish a central resource for pharmacoinformatics activities completed by Doctor of Pharmacy students and post-doctoral residents to be accessed by regional health systems and prescribers.
- Develop didactic courses at UB for health sciences professionals in all aspects of pharmacoinformatics.
- Provide a central resource for grant submissions related to pharmacoinformatics.
