The Pharmaceutical Care Learning Center will house the
following:
- Sterile preparation area for intravenous products, enclosed within a clean room with filtered air.
- The Sterile preparation area contains:
- Vertical flow hood
- Simulated horizontal flow hood with video taping capabilities.
- TPN (Total Parenteral Nutrition) production area
- Order entry computer stations complete with written and on-line reference drug information resources and patient records
- Patient counseling rooms equipped with computers for access to on-line drug information and electronic patient records.
- Telephone system for communicating with health care professionals during simulated patient counseling and order entry exercises
- Fax and Scanning machines for electronic transmission of information.
- Controlled Substance Vault with electronic inventory records and controlled substance safe.
- Simulated Hospital Inpatient room with hospital bed and life size mannequin with tracheotomy tube and ostomy site.
