Being a recognized member of the pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences communities requires a dedication to people and communities. Through major outreach initiatives, the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is working to educate the public and bring together for discussion a diverse network of research and health professionals.
HIV ePharmacotherapy Network
The HIV ePharmacotherapy Network is designed to offer a comprehensive suite of research, education, and clinical services. At the core of the outreach effort is the network's Web site, which offers in-depth information on HIV research initiatives and access to a community of scientific professionals. In addition, a postgraduate certificate program is offered for pharmacists seeking an expertise in HIV-related care.
Poison Prevention Education Program
For many doctor of pharmacy students at UB, outreach is about education. Every year, around the time of National Poison Prevention Week, UB students visit area classrooms to teach children the importance of poison safety. To complement the outreach program, the school maintains a Web site for students and parents to look up important poison safety information. The Poison Prevention Education Program is a joint venture of the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and the WNY Poison Control Center.
