The Hayes Society

The General Edmund Hayes Society, established in 1991, honors individuals who have chosen to support the university through a planned gift. Members of the Hayes Society recognize that a planned gift is a great way to make a significant impact on an institution that they believe in. This honorary society recognizes all bequest intentions and deferred gifts to any UB program. Membership in the General Edmund Hayes Society is granted for life.

Member recognition includes the listing of your name in university recognition publications to the extent you would like, invitations to special UB events, and subscriptions to university publications including "Pinnacle" and "UB Today."

Irving Sultz, Class of 1955 president, said he named the pharmacy school in his estate because, “I don’t know which direction my life would have taken if I hadn’t been accepted to the school. It has afforded me a lifelong career as a health care professional in the practice of pharmacy. I am thankful to UB for making a profound difference in my life.” Sultz hopes that his classmates will also consider making a gift to UB.

The most common planned giving option, the bequest, has been chosen by a number of School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences alumni who are members of the Hayes Society. The impact of bequests has been tremendous at UB, funding scholarships for talented students who otherwise could not afford a college education, establishing distinguished academic professorships, and providing support for research initiatives.

Documentation of your generosity may include a letter from your attorney affirming the commitment or a copy of the relevant portion of the legal document in which the gift is described. For additional information on how you can leave your legacy by making a planned gift to benefit the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, call UB’s Office of Gift Planning toll-free at (877) 825-3422.
